The University of Nebraska was founded in Lincoln on February 15, 1869. The university added the medical center in Omaha in 1902. The University of Omaha became the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1968. And Kearney State College joined the system in 1991 becoming the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
