Support graduate studies

The mission of the Graduate Studies program is to provide, promote and enhance the highest quality graduate education in health sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The UNMC Graduate Studies Program is where students and fellows embark on reputation-building research; learn to critically evaluate the constantly changing scientific literature; publish their work in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals; compete for external awards and serve on various university, regional and national committees. While graduate students are primarily focused on fulfilling the goals of the research enterprise, their success – which affects how UNMC is perceived – is largely defined by their future employment. Several new initiatives have been introduced that ensure graduates and postdoctoral fellows have the best possible training to compete for excellent jobs and positions after they leave. And for most of those students, their first job post-grad is not in an academic setting.
