Equine Sports Complex

With more than 180,000 horses in the state used for leisure, competition and work, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has recognized the need for a facility that will sustain and promote the equine community. 

To meet this growing need and encourage more students to pursue careers in Nebraska’s equine fields, UNL has embarked on an exciting project to provide students with a $2.75 million state-of-the-art equine sports complex. Spearheaded by a lead gift of $1 million from the Kimmel Foundation, and bolstered by a recent $1.4 million anonymous gift, the complex will provide:

• a large, covered practice arena with adjacent livestock pens
• space for College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) students to engage in more experiential learning;
• opportunities to increase extension equine programming for youth and adults; and
• an on-campus place for equine students to board their horses.
