Since the foundation’s founding in 1936, trustees have helped advance excellence across the university system — at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, the University Nebraska Medical Center and its clinical partner, Nebraska Medicine, as well as the universitywide institutes.

Trustees play a vital role in advancing the mission of the foundation through their advocacy, service and generosity. What is the Trustees Fund for the Future?

While 99% of the gifts the foundation administers are restricted by the donor for a specific purpose, the Trustees Fund for the Future is an unrestricted fund that enables the foundation to make strategic investments in its operations and/or provide better services to the university. How has the Trustees Fund for the Future Advanced the Mission of the Foundation?

The Trustees Fund for the Future has been used to:

launch one of the nation’s first donor experience officer programs to assist in identifying and engaging donors;
purchase innovative digital engagement tools such as email, event and texting platforms to enhance communication and outreach to alumni and donors;
invest in automated systems to create fund agreements for donors and a paperless transfers of funds to the university; and
conduct a survey to seek feedback that will help increase alumni loyalty and affinity.
