UNL Newman Center Fund

University of Nebraska - Lincoln

The Newman Center – St. Thomas Aquinas Church is the Catholic Church on campus at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Our mission is to forge college students into saints, fully alive in Christ. We have served the spiritual, human, intellectual and apostolic formation needs of Catholic students attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for over a century. We also serve all college students in the Lincoln area, from Southeast Community College to Nebraska Wesleyan and beyond.

People hunger for more in life, but they don’t know they’ll find it in Christ.

In response, the Newman Center provides a variety of ministry and program opportunities, serving diverse interest and styles, yet all of which can enable students to grow spiritually. For example, FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) brings the hope and joy of the gospel to college students — meeting them in friendship, inviting them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and walking with them as they pursue lives of virtue and excellence.

Through Bible studies, outreach events, mission trips and everyday accompaniment, missionaries inspire and build up others in faith, sending them out to spread the good news and live out the Great Commission: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).

Our beautiful building is located on the corner of 16th and Q streets on campus. Since expansion in 2015, our existing ministries have thrived, and many new ones have begun! We invite all students to find a home at the Newman Center.
