The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, the charitable foundation supported by Dunkin’, has given $3,000 to support the Nebraska Medicine Child Life and Family Development program.

The gift was made possible by the Dunkin’ Iced Coffee Day fundraising event that took place at Dunkin’ restaurants nationwide on May 23. On that day, a portion of all sales of iced coffee beverages went to benefit the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation and its mission to bring joy to children battling hunger or illness.

These contributions were then distributed back to communities through various organizations such as Nebraska Medicine and its philanthropic partner, the University of Nebraska Foundation.

The Child Life and Family Development program provides developmental, educational and psychosocial support to help children and their families cope with the experience of being in a hospital. The program offers school-based support, music therapy services, preparation for surgery and medical procedures, sibling education, animal-assisted therapy, holiday-themed activities and more.

On June 30, representatives of Dunkin’ of Nebraska and the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation celebrated the gift with a check presentation at Nebraska Medicine.

Since 2006, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation has granted more than $45 million to hundreds of national and local charities across the country thanks to the generosity of its franchisees, guests, vendor partners and employees.

The funds were raised as part of Only in Nebraska: A Campaign for Our University’s Future. The campaign is a historic effort to engage at least 150,000 benefactors to give $3 billion to support University of Nebraska students, faculty, academic and clinical programs and research to address the needs of the state.
