The University of Nebraska had a successful year of growing relationships and resources to enable the University of Nebraska to change lives and save lives. Total philanthropic support for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019, was $290,517,529. In fiscal 2019, the foundation transitioned its gift reporting method to align with industry standards outlined by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Previously, the foundation used Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), which does not take into consideration all pledges, planned gift commitments and other fundraising activity. The foundation’s total philanthropic support in fiscal year 2018, using CASE counting standards, was $231 million. The foundation also hit an all-time high for number of annual donors to the foundation in fiscal 2019 at 57,215.

Endowment Report

The foundation’s endowed assets under management totaled $1.7 billion in fiscal 2019. The largest portion of the endowment, referred to as Fund A, had a value of $1.3 billion and returned 2.1% for the fiscal year. The foundation manages endowed gifts given directly to the university through an agency agreement; this endowment is referred to as Fund N. Fund A and Fund N plus several smaller endowments make up the total $1.7 billion in endowed assets for the University of Nebraska.
