Student Support and Scholarships

UNO’s role as a metropolitan university is to ensure every student has the chance to succeed. We will invest in scholarships for recruitment and retention, and programs focused on time to completion and completion to degree. There will be strategic investments in learning communities for first generation students, areas of intense workforce needs such as IT, teachers, STEM along with the resources that are desperately needed to support the mental health and well-being of our students.

University Wide Workforce Development

The most in-demand resource across all industries is highly skilled workers that can immediately meet a need. UNO will serve as the engine for citywide workforce development growth through strategic partnerships with area businesses, non-profits, researchers and learning centers in our region.

SAMUEL BAK MUSEUM: THE LEARNING CENTER

The Samuel Bak Museum: The Learning Center will be a distinctive facility on UNO’s campus that will serve as the hub for intercultural dialogue and education. It will house UNO’s notable academic specializing in Holocaust and genocide studies, Human Rights, and Israel and Jewish Studies as well as the Office of Diversity, Equity, Access and Inclusion. The building will also be the home to an extraordinary gift of 512 plus works of art from the Pucker Gallery and world-renowned artist Samuel Bak. Over his lifetime, Bak weaved his Holocaust experience with his personal story to create an iconography of Jewish modern history. By exploring Bak’s work on the Holocaust and other examples of hate, collective violence and genocide, the Museum and Learning Center will serve as a safe space for students, staff, faculty and the greater community to dialogue and learn to combat prejudice with compassion, indifference with participation, myth and misinformation with knowledge. A Phase 1 temporary space located at 2268 S 67th Street in Omaha, NE opened February 4, 2023.

UNO Fund - Student Scholarships

Your gift to this fund supports UNO students by providing scholarships recognizing academic excellence and financial need. The scholarships are awarded through UNO’s Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and are available to deserving students enrolled within any college.
