Leave a Legacy

Make a planned gift and leave your legacy

No matter your circumstances, no matter your age or financial situation, if leaving a legacy is important to you, we can help through planned giving.

It’s been one of my life’s great joys to get that plan together and then have the fun of going around and telling the organizations in the plan that they’re going to receive a gift someday — hopefully many, many years from now — and see the excitement and appreciation that they have.

Make a planned gift and leave a legacy

There are many ways to give to the University of Nebraska and its affiliates. You may make a gift through your estate plan without giving any money right now, or you may make a gift that will return an income to you, such as an annuity.

These gifts are referred to as planned gifts because you are planning to provide the gift at a later date, and all of these gifts grant you membership in the Burnett Society, a giving society for individuals who support the university with a planned gift.

Regardless of the method you choose, you may designate your gift to the area that matters most to you and leave a legacy. If you’ve already made a planned gift, please share your plans with us. We’d love to hear your story.

To learn more about the impact of the Burnett Society, please watch our video above. Here, members had lunch at the Lied Commons followed by a tour of UNMC College of Nursing. Throughout the year, the Burnett Society brings members together for special events created with them in mind.

Donors (like you) helped this doctor reach her dream

UNMC’s Dr. Amy Hellman now leads one of just 39 clinics in the nation that are considered “Centers of Excellence” for Huntington’s Disease. “It’s because of the generous support of donors like you that I was able to pursue my dream,” she says.

When you make a gift to the University of Nebraska Foundation you can trust that it will be used in the way in which it was intended. That’s a promise we’ve kept with our donors since our organization was founded in 1936.
