Summer events sustain speech and language services for children

The Scottish Rite Foundation of Omaha will be holding two events this summer to support the RiteCare Speech and Language Clinic at the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

The RiteCare Classic Golf Outing and Benefit will be held on June 24 at the Shoreline Golf Club, 210 Locust St., Carter Lake, Iowa.

The 8th Annual WalkRite for RiteCare will be held on June 26 at Lake Zorinsky.

“Scottish Rite Masons long ago recognized the benefit of early intervention for children with speech and language difficulties,” said Micah Evans, a spokesman for Scottish Rite. “Supporting tomorrow’s leaders through speech therapy has been the principal philanthropy of Nebraska’s Scottish Rite Freemasons for more than 40 years, and each dollar we spend today saves a minimum of $7 later in remedial education or social services.

“Children who receive evaluation and therapy go on to lead healthy childhoods as lifelong learners,” he said.

Golf outing event

Registration will open for the RiteCare Classic at 11 a.m. June 24, with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The event features 18 holes of golf, a barbecue dinner, RiteCare Classic golf shirts, contests, raffles, prizes and more.
