Support the Department of Biological Systems Engineering

Support the Department of Biological Systems Engineering

The Biological Systems Engineering Department is uniquely situated in both the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the College of Engineering. Its connectivity with other academic units through joint faculty appointments, and having faculty at research and extension centers throughout Nebraska, is a source of strength and support. The mission of the Biological Systems Engineering Department is to educate engineers and managers, conduct research, and transfer engineering technology to benefit Nebraska's biological systems. Department facilities in LW Chase Hall provide the laboratories and the equipment for study of agricultural machines and power units, animal and plant environment control systems, bioprocessing systems, engineering properties of food and biosynthetic materials, biomedical engineering, irrigation hydraulics, and pollution control. Modern instruments available in the laboratories include computers, electronic image processors, water and air flow measurement devices, plant and animal environment chambers, global positioning systems equipment, ultrasound and magnetic resonance equipment for imaging, and computer-aided design equipment.
