Greatest Needs at the University of Nebraska
The University of Nebraska was founded in Lincoln on February 15, 1869, just two years after Nebraska became a state. The university added the medical center in Omaha in 1902, and the University of Omaha became the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1968. Kearney State College joined the system in 1991 becoming the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Nearly 150 years later, the university now boasts 52,500 students and a reputation for excellence in higher education.
