Stephen J. Lehning Lung Cancer Research Fund

Stephen J. Lehning Lung Cancer Research Fund

Stephen J. Lehning (Steve) lost his short, intense battle with lung cancer on 26 January, 2015 in Skull Valley, Az with his wife Kim and son Ryder and stepsons Morgan and Shane.  Steve grew up a military brat living in a number of communities across the United States, living and attending school in Bellevue where he played football and also Omaha long enough to develop a lifelong passion for Cornhusker football.  Steve always enjoyed watching Big Red play and speculating with his Dad, John about changes in the coaching staff.

Steve was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2014 and fought hard more than half a year.  In Steve's memory, the family hopes to help prevent others from this disease by supporting the lung cancer research program at The Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at UNMC.  Our wish is that Steve's story will encourage each of you to help advance these programs by contributing to the Stephen J. Lehning Fund for Lung Cancer Research where 100% of the donated funds stay in our state to be used to help accelerate finding more effective treatments leading to cures of lung cancer, assisting patients who cannot afford medications or to participate in a clinical trial.

Please don't let our story become yours. Support cancer research.
