Thai Paul Tran, M.D. Lectureship in Emergency Medicine Fund
Born in Vietnam, Dr. Thai Paul Tran had resided in the U.S. since 1975. He joined the University of Nebraska Medical Center's faculty as a member of the Department of Emergency Medicine in 1994.
Dr. Tran served as research director for the Emergency Medicine department, recruiting several researchers and post-doctoral fellows from China.
In addition to seeing patients and conducting research, he developed tools to teach and monitor the progress of emergency medicine residents. He spent a great deal of time with medical students and residents. He was an amazing educator who was respected by all.
Dr. Tran passed away in 2012.
To honor Dr. Tran's memory as well as his many achievements and contributions to students and medicine, UNMC seeks to establish the Thai Paul Tran M.D. Lectureship. The goal is to raise a minimum of $100,000 to fully fund the lectureship in 2013. Lectures could then begin in 2014, the tenth anniversary of the founding of the emergency medicine residency program at UNMC.
