Jack Kay Fund for Speech and Debate

Jack Kay Fund for Speech and Debate

This scholarship is dedicated to honoring the memory of Dr. Jack Kay, former Director of Forensics (1979-1988) and Chair of the Department of Communication Studies (1986-1990) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Dr. Kay exemplified a commitment to education inside and outside of the classroom and love for all his students.  The funds will be awarded as a Jack Kay Scholarship to a member of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Speech and Debate Team who, through hard work and dedication, has shown significant growth as a competitor and person during their time on the team.  Jack Kay Scholars will exemplify the qualities of distinguished speakers or debaters and mastery of the elements of ethos (ethics), logos (logic), and pathos (passion).  Special consideration will be given to students who are new to the activity or in need to financial assistance.
