This is an exciting time for UNK as it moves to the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association – maybe the best Division II conference in the country.
The Lopers, who will be leaving the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, officially become part of the MIAA on July 1.
But as the Lopers enter this new era, continuing their tradition of excellence will require more resources and scholarships and even more donor support.
Because it's never easy to stay at the top.
A new fund at the University of Nebraska Foundation – The Loper Fund – will make it easier for all of the people who love and support the Lopers to help them meet this new challenge.
The Loper Fund provides donors the vehicle to invest in the athletic program, either in the designated sport of their choice, or to give the athletics administration the flexibility to use the funds in the area of greatest need.
The Loper Fund makes gift giving more convenient. By combining all giving generated by athletic fundraising groups and booster clubs into one centralized fund, donations are now just given to the Loper Fund.
UNK has many needs as it joins the MIAA. Scholarship support will be the most important. With more than 430 student-athletes in 17 sports, UNK must continue to attract a pipeline of talented young people, while giving them the tools to be successful on and off the field.
Any gift to the Loper Fund will make a difference.
Student support is one of the top priorities of the Campaign for Nebraska. If you'd like to help UNK's student-athletes as they face the new challenges of a new conference please consider giving online to the Loper Fund or contact the foundation's Lucas Dart at 800-432-3216.
