Liz's Legacy Fund

Liz's Legacy Fund

This fund was established in honor of Omaha community leader Liz Karnes who died in April 2003 after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer (or cervical cancer) in 1991. During her 12-year fight against cancer, Liz supported the promising research at UNMC and the extraordinary care at The Nebraska Medical Center. Liz's Legacy creates an awareness among Nebraskans and others across the country about the importance of understanding cancer - an awareness Liz adamantly promoted. It is dedicated to the physicians, nurses, and scientists who are diligently working toward new, more effective cancer treatments, diagnoses and ultimately a cure.
