Brain Cancer Research Fund
The University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Neuro-Oncology team provides expertise and support that is unsurpassed in the Midwest and north central regions. Dr. Michelle Aizenberg, the only Neurosurgeon in the state with fellowship training in Neurosurgical Oncology, and Dr. Nicole Shonka, the sole fellowship-trained Neuro-Oncologist in Nebraska, lead our multidisciplinary team of specialists in Neuroradiology, Neuropathology, Radiation Oncology, Neuro-Endocrinology, and Neurocognitive psychology as well.
Because our program has ongoing clinical and translational research projects, we are able to offer our patients not only cooperative group and industry supported trials, but also novel investigator-initiated trials. These are studies which would not be available to them at other centers. The Brain Cancer Research Fund will be utilized to allow us to fund pilot projects, conduct cross-disciplinary research, fund post-doctoral students participating in studies, host applicable lectures or attend meetings for the collaboration and advancement of novel ideas in the pursuit of improving brain tumor treatments and outcomes.
