N Fund – College of Law Scholarships
These are very challenging times for law schools around the country, and Nebraska Law is no exception. Nationally, applicants to law schools have declined more than 30 percent over the past few years. This decline is the result of law firm downsizing, the decrease in hiring after the 2008 recession, and the media blitz that followed. It has discouraged many students from pursuing a law degree. Although the low tuition at Nebraska Law has always meant that our graduates have had relatively low debt after law school, the negative publicity currently swirling around the nation's law schools does not communicate these important distinctions.
As a result, there is fierce competition among law schools for well-qualified students and for most students, the amount of scholarship support they are promised is a deciding factor in their decision about where to go to law school. On the merits of our strong and varied curriculum, our excellent faculty, and our beautiful facility, Nebraska Law is well positioned to compete with other law schools for the best students. But we need your support to compete financially. Alumni support is critical at this time so that we can offer competitive scholarships to the best and the brightest students and continue to educate the future lawyers and leaders of Nebraska and the nation.
Gifts to the N Fund – College of Law Scholarships support the dreams of future lawyers by alleviating students financial obligations during and after law school so that they can choose the right career path without consideration of how they will service their debt. Please consider a gift to the general scholarship fund.
