Glow Big Red part of 150th Charter Week celebration

Posted: Mon, Oct 1, 2018

Join Husker alumni and friends across the state and the globe for the first-ever Glow Big Red (#GlowBigRed) and 24 Hours of Husker Giving.

From noon to noon on Feb. 14 and 15, Huskers near and far will celebrate our university pride by lighting up our houses, flying our Nebraska flags and wearing our favorite Nebraska gear.

We’ll show how much Nebraska means to us by contributing to the campus programs and passions that are most meaningful to us.

LIGHT IT — The State Capitol will light up red, along with Memorial Stadium and other campus buildings on Feb. 14 and 15. Make your home or business glow red, too! If it’s not too late, be sure to leave up your red holiday lights.

FLY IT  Let your Husker flags fly like it’s game day!

WEAR IT  Put on your favorite Husker gear. Own your look.

GIVE IT — Those who care deeply for our university may also show their love by making a gift during the 24 Hours of Husker Giving. Let’s build on the next 150 years of excellence by contributing to our university starting at noon on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, through noon on University Charter Day, Feb. 15.

Make your gift and learn about the 24 hours of giving activities at huskersgive.unl.edu. You may make your gift beginning Jan. 21.

CHARTER WEEK: FEBRUARY 11-15

Glow Big Red is during Charter Week, a weeklong celebration of the 150th anniversary of the University of Nebraska.

The university was chartered on Feb. 15, 1869, and charged with its land-grant mission of public education, research and service to Nebraska. In 2019, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln marks a 150-year legacy of improving the quality of life for Nebraska and beyond.

“The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, as our statewide, comprehensive campus, is indeed the DNA of Nebraska and beyond,” Green said. “Our mission as we look out to the immediate and long-term years has never been more important to meet the grand challenges of our world.”

This is the first time for Glow Big Red which will become part of our honored Husker traditions.

On Feb. 14 and 15, Huskers near and far will celebrate the University of Nebraska–Lincoln by lighting up our homes and businesses in red.

We’re going to fly our Husker flags as high as we can and wear our favorite Husker gear.

We’ll give back to the university by supporting students and the causes on campus that are most important to us.

Join Husker Nation from noon to noon on Feb. 14 and 15 for the inaugural Glow Big Red Celebration. And follow the excitement online here with #GlowBigRed:
