Brian Smith died doing something he loved, pursuing knowledge and enjoying the outdoors. Smith died on March 15, 2008, while participating in a University of Nebraska-Lincoln study trip in Puerto Rico. The heart attack was the only sign of the sophomore's pre-existing health condition.
In the year since his death, his parents, fellow students, professors and friends have planned fundraisers to create the Brian M. Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund, an endowed fund that helps students attend the UNL College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
Your contribution to this fund will help students attend UNL's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources while fostering Smith's passion for education.
Your gift to this fund supports an endowed scholarship for second-year or above students in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, with preference to students pursuing the areas Smith himself loved, fisheries and wildlife.
Currently there are no other funds available for this area.
