Support the
Department of Engineering Mechanics

The Engineering Mechanics Department is unique within the College of Engineering at UNL, in that it teaches a wide range of undergraduate courses but does not have its own undergraduate degree program. Faculty teach fundamental core courses in the engineering sciences, including statics, dynamics, and strength of materials. These courses form the basis for more advanced coursework in architectural engineering, biological

systems engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, industrial & management systems engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, and construction management.

Department research activities are recognized at the national and international level, and include innovative projects on nanostructured materials; nondestructive testing; ceramic, polymeric, piezoelectric, and smart materials characterization; modeling and micro-scale dynamic systems; and computational mechanics. The Engineering Mechanics Department takes great pride in the quality and rigor of their course offerings.
