The Department of Philosophy is strongly committed to developing intellectual skills that will serve students as they move on into a variety of fields. The department currently has 16 faculty members, 25 graduate students, and dozens of undergraduate majors. The research and teaching interests of the faculty are broad and span all major subject areas of analytical philosophy. We have internationally recognized research strength in epistemology and ethics.
The Philosophy Department works hard to provide excellent educational experiences for our students even beyond traditional classes. It brings to campus annually a number of prominent speakers to discuss particular philosophical topics with students, faculty, and the campus at large. The department also hosts annual conferences on important topics that bring a number of philosophers to UNL for concentrated discussion. Graduate students also host their own weekly graduate student colloquium. Many of these activities would simply not be possible without the support of alumni and friends of the department. We greatly appreciate your support.
A gift to this fund helps the department of philosophy provide educational programming and student support.
