Support the Comprehensive Cancer Center
A new comprehensive cancer center at UNMC and its hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, will house a research tower and clinical treatment facility (multidisciplinary cancer outpatient and inpatient center). Along with a new ambulatory care facility, the cancer center will help provide more convenience for patients and allow medical teams to collaborate on patient care and the latest treatment options. The cancer center facilities, to be built on the west side of the campus, will serve as a catalyst to transform cancer services, providing a central location and synergy benefiting not only clinicians and researchers but more importantly, patients.
The cancer center research tower, with space for 98 labs, will bring together hundreds of cancer scientists into one place. Researchers will work closely with clinicians to bring the latest treatment options to Nebraskans. The clinical treatment facility will have seven floors to house multidisciplinary outpatient areas including infusion, radiation therapy, surgery, radiology and collaborative treatment/diagnostics. It also will include space for a 108-bed inpatient hospital. These facilities will bring together the best minds in cancer research and care and help Nebraska receive the highest ranking from the National Cancer Institute — that of a Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The ambulatory care facility will provide personalized health care and treatment to patients who need a minor outpatient surgical procedure. The new center will provide patients an easy to access facility in a state-of-the-art environment.
