The Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) specializes in helping people with genetic disorders and developmental disabilities. Its focus areas are education, research, training and clinical services to support individuals with special health care needs and their families. Since 1959,
Munroe-Meyer Institute provides statewide services to individuals with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities and special health care needs.
In the past 10 years, major advances have been made in the area of genetics and prevention of certain types of birth defects, such as spina bifida. The institute is dedicated to the research necessary to continue prevention and treatment of genetic disease.
