The Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) provides clinical services to more than 10,000 individuals and families each year and conducts research into innovative therapies to offer new ways to support individuals with disabilities. MMI and its staff of physicians and therapists, along with the family-centered services of professionals in 14 disciplines, offer hope in times of uncertainty. They are committed to empowering individuals with disabilities and their families to be as successful as possible.
Private support from patients, families and friends plays a critical role in the success of the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Munroe-Meyer Institute. UNMC has challenged itself to achieve world-class excellence in patient care, medical research and education. Although MMI has the potential to expand its research, diagnostic, educational and outreach capabilities, much of this potential cannot be met with current allocations and will have to be realized through private philanthropy. Your gift can help to secure MMI’s future and develop new programs to impact the lives of all Nebraskans by changing the future of children and adults with disabilities.
Through your generosity, a gift to this fund will allow MMI the tools to improve and “unlock the potential” in the lives of children, youth, adults and their families with special health care needs. This fund benefits and supports activities associated with education, training, clinical evaluation, treatment therapy, research and other activities associated with MMI’s mission.
Currently the University of Nebraska Medical Center is studying a promising new device developed for people with multiple sclerosis and balance issues. Research is underway of a new cutting-edge biotechnological device — PoNS — that has great potential for helping the damaged portions of a person’s brain learn new neural connections for maintaining balance. Presently UNMC and the University of Nebraska Foundation are working to raise $25,000 to secure a matching challenge grant that, if met, will fund these upcoming research efforts.
Your gift to this fund will benefit and support, including, but not limited to, activities associated with education, training, clinical evaluation, treatment, therapy, research and other activities which are part of MMI’s mission of diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of children, youth, and adults with special needs.
