The mission of the UNMC College of Public Health is to promote optimal health and well-being through robust education, research, and service in collaboration with communities in Nebraska, across the country, and around the world.
The goal of UNMC’s College of Public Health is to increase the odds that everyone everywhere can, and will, make healthy choices through prevention and health promotion. Armed with data, we apply science topractice and policy in order to strategically improve the health of communities.
We are also determined to prevent disasters both natural and man-made and to contribute as we can, in partnership with others to lessen the impact of such disasters when they strike. At the turn of the 21st century, Nebraska’s public health system was fragmented and underfunded with pubic health programs available in less than one-fourth of the state’s counties. Today that has changed, with local health departments covering every county. UNMC is proud to be a partner in this effort as we tackle problems that have plagued human beings for centuries. A gift to this fund provides direct support to students and student-related activities within the college. Gifts through this fund allows students to not only attend the college but also participate in research and service activities that provide them with the experience and knowledge to implement upon graduation.
