The Department of Anthropology was created in 1953. From then to now, the department has grown steadily to encompass the major fields of anthropology with strengths in archaeology, behavioral ecology, Native American studies, and applied-development anthropology.
The twelve full-time and seven adjunct faculty provide comprehensive education centered on research, outreach, and service. Many students have the opportunity to gain additional educational experiences through field camp programs or a student run anthropology group known as AnthroGroup.
