Support the
Department of Classics and Religious Studies

The Department of Classics and Religious Studies was officially renamed in 1998, but has roots dating back to the chartering of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Two of the original five founding faculty members were professors of Greek and Latin. Given these historical roots, the department is recognized as a strong academic unit in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, even though it is the smallest department in the College of Arts and Sciences.

For undergraduate students, the Classics and Religious Studies department offers two majors, Classical Languages and Classics and Religious Studies. The graduate program focuses on Latin and Greek. The objective of the 13 member teaching staff is to introduce the student to the classical world and its role in the history of western civilization, as well as the world’s major religious traditions and their influence on human history.

We are very grateful to have alumni and friends willing to support us in our educational activities. Please consider donating to the Department of Classics and Religious Studies as it is vital to our success.
